Yashasvi Jaiswal Scores Triple Century in Test — Only 4th Indian to Achieve the Feat

When Yashasvi Jaiswal reached his triple century on Day 2 of the first Test against Zimbabwe at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the crowd gave him a standing ovation that lasted several minutes. At 21 years and 4 months, he became the youngest Indian and the fourth overall to reach 300 in Test cricket, joining Virender Sehwag (twice), Karun Nair and Rohit Sharma in an exclusive Indian club.

Jaiswal eventually fell for 309, caught at cover attempting an ambitious drive, having batted for 11 hours and 23 minutes and faced 421 deliveries. His innings featured 38 fours and 9 sixes.

The Innings Dissected

Jaiswal's 309 was a masterclass in sustained concentration combined with attacking intent. He reached his first century off 112 balls, his double century off 267 balls, and his triple off 398 balls — accelerating as the innings progressed on a flat Delhi pitch.

Zimbabwe's bowlers had no answers. Their captain admitted afterwards: "We tried everything — pacers, spinners, short balls, full balls. He had an answer for all of it. It was a privilege to watch."

The Next Sehwag?

Comparisons with Virender Sehwag — India's greatest ever Test destroyer — are inevitably drawn when watching Jaiswal bat. The fearlessness, the footwork, the contempt for the bowling. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly put it simply: "Sehwag was once in a generation. Jaiswal might be once in two."
